The Lakes of Pontchartrain
The origin of the tune, both geographically and chronologically is debated. An
old "English street ballad and a "traditional Creole love song, which is commonly mistaken as being of Irish origin."
It was probably brought back from British and French soldiers fighting in Louisiana and Canada in the War of 1812.

- Helm's Genealogy Toolbox premiered on the World Wide Web in February 1995 with a mere 134 links. - Heritage Quest products include what it says is the largest private collection of family-history data on microfilm, more than 250,000 titles.
- Linked pedigree databases This site seeks to help you sort just how big each database is, how much use costs and how fast the number of names present is growing.
- RootsWeb The Internet's oldest and largest genealogy community. The site is home to the RootsWeb surname list of close to one million entries and offers two e-newsletters and online genealogical courses.
- USGenWeb Project This site serves as the entrance to the massive US GenWeb project, wherein volunteers across the US maintain linked websites about their states and counties. This page contains information about the project and links to state-level GenWeb sites. Special projects underway include a Census database for on-line census images and tombstone database by state and county.

- Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild Created by a group of volunteers dedicated to making the search for our ancestors easier which grew out of a need to find ships passenger lists on-line.
- The Official Federal Land Patent Records Site managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), General Land Office (GLO) Records Automation web site. They provide live database access to Federal land conveyance records for the Public Land States. Image access is provided to more than two million Federal land title records for Eastern Public Land States, issued between 1820 and 1908. Images of Serial patents, issued between 1908 and the mid-1960's are currently being added to this web site. Due to organization of documents in the GLO collection, this web site does not currently contain every Federal title record issued for the listed states.
- The Library of Virginia The Library of Virginia's Electronic Card Indexes is an online database of images that replicates catalog card indexes to selected library and archival collections. The database contains a separate image for each catalog card (approximately 1.4 million images in all). In many cases the card files were the only finding aids available for the respective collections, and the cards themselves were often discolored, brittle, or handwritten. The Archival & Library Collections include electronic card indexes of biographical, business, genealogical, land records, maps/geographical, military records and personal papers.

- Making of America (MoA) is a digital library of primary sources in American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. The collection currently contains approximately 8,500 books and 50,000 journal articles with 19th century imprints. Good search engine.
- Making of America Materials accessible here are Cornell University Library's contributions to Making of America (MOA), a digital library of primary sources in American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. The collection is particularly strong in the subject areas of education, psychology, American history, sociology, religion, and science and technology.
